Product Info
The XL2J product is integrated seamlessly with Microsoft Excel, allowing Excel users to deploy their Excel spreadsheets and applications as Java objects without leaving the Excel environment.
Converting a complicated Excel spreadsheet into a Java object requires 3 simple steps, all driven from a simple wizard within Excel.
Identify all the output cells in the spreadsheet. In the
typical scenario these cells contain the final results
of a calculation.
Identify all the input cells in the spreadsheet. In a typical financial calculator, these are the variables that are changed
to model different outcomes.
Choose a template and deployment options
for the Web-based interface. For example, you would
commonly select a web page template (HTML). However, if the Excel
calculations or data are to be exposed to other computer
programs via J2EE, this may also be an XML interface.
The XL2J product then automatically analyzes the Excel spreadsheet and compiles the Excel equations and VBA logic into Java. Finally, XL2J automatically deploys the appropriate Java classes and servlets onto production servers. With no additional work, the functionality and data created from the Excel environment is accessible as a Web page, or even as an XML/J2EE Web service.
